Internet has desensitized us

When online, we don’t relate face-to-face to the people we leave comments with. The internet has desensitized us to people’s emotions. This anonymity and distance has numbed us to the reality that we are talking to (and about) real live human beings, not punching bags.

The constant use of derogatory terms for homosexuals as generic insults means that not everyone who uses them does so out of hatred of homosexuality. No matter, people still use them synonymously with hatred.
